Lady Cats Fall 2-1 In District Softball Final, Will Face West Greene In State Opener, On Monday (06/04/16)

The Clarion Area Lady Bobcats traveled to Brockway on Tuesday (May 31st), to face the undefeated DuBois Central Catholic Lady Cardinals for the District Nine Class A Title.

There was no score through the first three innings. But the Lady Cats broke the tie, in the top of the fourth. Cora Zerfoss singled and then stole second and was able to advance to third on an error on the play. She then scored on a bunt by Alexis Constantino to give Clarion a 1-0 lead.

The Bobcat lead held until the bottom of the sixth, when the Cardinals pushed across two runs. The DCC lead held, giving them the 2-1 win.

Sadie Rudesyle had a good game in the circle, pitching a complete game, throwing five strikeouts and giving up just four hits.

Zerfoss had two of the Cats hits. Anna Reed, Maya Thornton and Carly Best each contributed a single.

The Lady Cats will advance to the PIAA State Tournament, Facing West Greene at California University of Pennsylvania’s Lilly Field on Monday (June 6th) at 2:00, in the afternoon.
