KAU of Kennett Square out of Philly and DE Sports received byes in first round due to our 1st and 2nd place finishes, respectively, from last year.

In 2nd round, we pounded out a 11-2 win over Tobyhanna (near Stroudsburg/Pocono).

In 3rd round, we faced one of the contenders, Northwest (near Scranton). They just beat District 2 champion Mercer 8-2. We scored first and never looked back by winning big 19-4!

In the finals for the winners bracket we faced the favorites Williamsport/Montoursville. We jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the 1st. They scored 2 runs to make it a 1 run game.

Things fell apart after a couple calls that did not go our way and they scored 5 runs to pull away. That inning changed the momentum of the game and we lost 9-5! They went on to win the tournament!

In our next game, we played KAU, the returning champs in finals of the consolation bracket. Again we jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the 3rd. And again we fell apart by making uncharacteristic errors and lost 14-4 in 5 innings.

Even though we finished on a down note, we gained a lot of respect from around the State! Other coaches couldn’t believe how talented our boys were coming from such a small area. They should be very proud of their efforts! In 3 years, this group has won District 25 all 3 seasons, 2nd place States 2015, 3rd place States 2016, and overall record of 44-7 (4 losses were to the #1 and #2 teams in the State).

Thank you to Coach Waugaman, Coach Vandermeer, and Coach Simpson!

(Thanks to Coach Weber for this article. GREAT SEASON DE SPORTS!!!!)
