Kriebel Wells Summer Softball Team Completes Successful Season (08/06/16)

(By Coach Dan Shofestall)
Seventeen girls from the Clarion area participated in an instructional series of practices and games through the last two weeks of July and the first week of August. The team was sponsored by Kriebel Wells, a long time supporter of girls softball in the area.

The idea is to learn the fundamentals and skills of softball through a series of practices and games with other local teams. Teams from Clarion-Limestone and Redbank Valley also participated.

The three teams work together to enhance the development of young girls who love to play the game of softball. There is no set lineup or lineup rules. Everyone plays. We play five run limit innings, so we can better control the games. No score is kept. It is a great way to get younger girls started to learn the game and give them a taste of what it takes to play at the next level.

From our team standpoint, I was very satisfied with how the team grew together in the three weeks we practiced and played. We had a lot of young girls who really played above our expectations. It’s also a great opportunity for our older girls to show and work on leadership skills in mentoring the younger girls. That’s team growth and I saw a lot of that from every member of the team. So overall I thought it was a big success for all involved.
