Bobcat Cross Country Runners Dominant At Karns City (09/10/16)

Clarion traveled to Karns City for the Bobcat Cross Country season opener on Wednesday, September 7th. Adam Bettwy led all runners to the finish line as they swept the top five spots in the boys’ varsity meet.

In an impressive Bobcat showing, Bettwy crossed the line at 18:46 followed by junior teammate Marshall Powers. Freshman Nathaniel Lerch was a close third followed by sophomore Nick Schill and junior Frank Weber.

Jacob Smith, Noah Schill, Daniel Ketner, and Victor Stahlman rounded out the Bobcat victory with impressive efforts. Clarion 15 – Karns City 46.

On the varsity girls’ side, sophomore Katie Craig led the Bobcats to a 26-29 victory. Craig crossed the line at 24:04 shortly before senior teammate Chelsea Mason who was followed by Gabriella Fleming, Emma Spitz, and Leticia Negri respectively.

In Junior High boys competition, Donnie Cunningham led the Bobcats to a 26-29 victory crossing the line at 12:21. Cunningham was followed shortly thereafter by Kaegan Phillips at 12:29. Gavin Hoover and Kade Phillips crossed next followed by Charlie Franchino and Milton McElravy. Phillip Bartley and Cole Stutzman finished out the field for the victorious boys.

On the girls side, Evelyn Lerch led the Clarion girls to victory crossing the line at 13:47 in her first competition. Teammate Isabella Scott crossed next for the Bobcats followed by Parker Boyden. Joyce Kim and Payton Simko finished shortly after followed by Aaliyah Dittman.

Jorden Best, Grace Adams, Livia Weckerly, Grace Schrader and Lauren Winters finished out the successful Bobcat field. Clarion 21 – Karns City 37.

“The thing I was impressed with was the pack running and team work. Our varsity boys achieved the perfect score through pack running!”
