Bobcat Junior Varsity Gridders Down Chucks (09/14/16)

The Clarion Area Junior Varsity Football Team downed visiting Punxsutawney 52-6, on Monday (September 12th), holding the Chucks to a late touchdown.

The Bobcats had a number of players contribute in the victory, with good play from the line, good defense and some fine running among other things.

Clarion had three first half touchdowns. The Bobcats first touchdown, a 1 yard run to the left, by Sam Minich, was set up by an earlier long run by Brendan Zerfoss. Archer Mills kicked the extra point, making the score 7-0. Then a Traeson Douglas interception led do a 9 yard touchdown run by Zerfoss.

Zerfoss touchdown was followed by a 20 yard interception for a touchdown, by Drew Whren. Mills PAT was good and the Cats led 20-0, at the half.

The second half scoring began with an 8 yard run by Logan Minich. He also scored the two-point conversion. Then Sam Minich blocked a punt. He later scored on a two yard run. Mills extra point was good.

Whren then had his second interception return for a touchdown, this one for sixty yards.

Logan Minich scored on a 60 yard touchdown run, on a JET play.

Sterling Conner had a thirty- five yard kick return.  Korbin Schill broke two tackles for a 20 yard gain, and then Conner broke lose for a 20 yard touchdown run, setting the 52-6 final.

The Bobcat JVs will host St. Marys on Monday (September 19th).
