Lady Cats Win 16th Annual Clarion Area Volleyball Tournament (09/25/16)
The Clarion Area Lady Cats hosted their 16th Annual Volleyball Tournament, which features some of the top teams in Western Pennsylvania, yesterday (Saturday, September 24th), and came away with the Gold Bracket Championship.

The Pool Play Results for Clarion: They defeated Franklin 2-0 (25-13, 25-13); had a 2-0 (25-19, 25-21) victory over Cochranton; fell 0-2 (20-25-24-26) to Grove City; defeated Huntington 2-0 (25-11, 25-18).
The Bobcats faced Shenango in the quarterfinals and won 1-0 (25-16).
The semifinals saw Clarion defeat Fort LeBoeuf 2-0 (25-18, 25-22). Then the Cats downed Coudersport 2-0 (25-20, 25-20) for the championship.
In all, Clarion won 6 matches, while losing one. They won 11 sets and lost only two and outscored their opponents 319-245.
Maya Thornton had a fine tournament, with 42 points on serve (2 aces), 35 kills, 23 digs and an assist. Sydney Kiser and Alexis Constantino were big contributors, with thirty-three points on serve each. Eight of Kiser’s points were aces. She also had 26 digs, and nine kills. Constantino had 4 aces and 36 digs.

Gloria Kroh had her usual strong performance, in setting her teammates up, with 45 assists. She also had 9 points (3 aces), 9 kills and nine digs. Olivia Burns was solid all-around, with 18 points (1 ace), 63 kills, 41 digs and four assists.
Kaylie Lutz had 41 assists, 3 kills and a pair of digs. Devon Quinn scored 14 points (1 ace) and handed out twenty-eight assists. Maya Miller had 7 points and a dig. Lexie Lauer had 2 points (1 ace), a pair of kills and three digs.
Maddie McNamara had five kills and a dig. Hailey Sintobin had 9 kills and six digs and Dorothy Kalinowski had five kills.
