Soccer: Lions Hang Tough In 5-4 Loss To Kane (10/09/16)

The Clarion-Limestone Lions suffered a tough 5-4 loss to the Kane Wolves.

The Lions came out strong in the First half and were leading 2-0 at the end of the half. Goals came from Blake Phillips unassisted and Braden Peters assisted by Donovan Montgomery.

The second half started off with another goal by Blake Phillips. The Kane Wolves were able to gain momentum and answered back with three unanswered goals to tie the game. The Lions worked hard and answered back with a goal of their own by Blake Phillips to again take the lead. C-L failed to convert on two penalty kicks and Kane was able to battle hard to tie the game again 4 – 4. C-L continued to work hard to gain momentum back, however Kane was able to put another goal in from the 18 with less than 3 minutes left.

The rest of the game was played in the Lions’ offensive end but they were unable to convert the momentum into a scoring opportunity.
