Bobcat Wrestlers Defeat Brockway 40-22, On Senior Night (03/04/17)

The homestanding Clarion Area Grapplers downed Brockway 40-22, on Senior Night, Thursday (February 2nd).

Colton Rapp, opened the match, with a fall in 40.9 seconds of the 160 pound bout, giving Clarion a 6-0 lead. Bryce Klawuhn lost by fall, in the match at 170, tying the score at 6-all.

Seth Nellis gave Clarion the lead , with a 12-4 major decision at 182, giving Clarion a 10-6 edge. Ben Smith followed at 195, with a 7-0 win, moving the lead to 13-6. The lead increased to 16-6, following Tom Wurster’s 6-3 win at 220.

Justin Goodman lost by fall, at 285 as Brockway came back to within four at 16-12. The Rovers tied the score at 16-all, after Logan Dehner fell 9-0. Brockway then took the lead, at 22-16, with a forfeit win at 120. Senior Zeke Brewer received a forfeit win at 126, to knot the match at 22-all.

Frank Weber won by fall, with 1:32 left in the second, in the 132 bout, to give Clarion the lead for good, at 28-22.

Riley McMaster then had a workmanlike 6-0 win at 138, for a 31-22 Bobcat lead. Sterling Conner had a hard fought 3-2 win at 145, moving Clarion out to a 34-22 lead.

Senior 152 pounder, Mike LeFay put the finishing touches on the match, winning his last match at home, with a fall with 1;16 left in the first period, for the 40-22.

Coach Brian Luton felt it was a good match to get ready for today’s (Saturday, February 4th), District Nine Dual Meet Championships. (The two schools met in the first round.) Coach Luton was also very happy that both his two seniors finished their home careers with victories.

The Bobcat Junior High wrestlers fell in the preliminary match 57-11. Owen Reinsel had a 17-0 technical fall, in the bout at 85. and Jordan Pezzutti won by forfeit at 145.

The Bobcats travel to Ridgway on Thursday (February 9th).
