Bobcat Boys Basketball Holds Banquet (03/05/17)

The Clarion Boys Basketball Boosters hosted the 2016-17 Banquet to honor the players and coaches, in the Fellowship Hall at Trinity Point Church of God, on Sunday afternoon (March 5th).

Booster Club President Brian Burford welcomed those gathered and thanked Sweet Basil Restaurant for providing the meal and Tanya Brooks for making the cupcakes for desert. He then prayed the Blessing for the meal.

After the Meal Junior Varsity coach B. J. Wrhen thanked athletic director Nancy Mills, principle John Kimmell and fellow assistant coaches Tom Lewis, Cameron Kirkland and Josh Eberhardt, as well as, and head coach Jess Quinn.

He mentioned that the he mentioned that the JVs had a successful 15-4 record and won the Keystone JV Tournament. Coach Wrhen then intoduced the JV Team saying a few words about each player. This season’s JVs included: Freshmen – Nate Datko, Josh Craig, Skylar Rhoades and Nick Federick; Sophomores – Donald Dunkle, Gavin brinkley, Jake Burns Dreu Whren, TiJon Faulk-Taylor and Archer Mills; and Juniors – Marshall Powers and Jacob Selker.

Coach Tom Lewis then thanked senior Vic Stahlman for a nice portrait that Vic drew. The portrait was passed around for everyone to see. Coach Lewis thanked the players, giving special thanks to the seniors who he has worked with for four straight years, to Coach Quinn for the opportunity to coach and to Mrs. Lewis.

Then, Coach Quinn thanked Mrs. Mills, Mr. Kimmell and Dr. Stahlman for the administration’s support. He gave special thanks to his senior players and said that it wouldn’t be the same with out them. Coach Quinn mentioned being hard on the players, but also mentioned that he “loved them like sons” and said that he was never disappointed in them.

Coach Quinn mentioned that Clarion had the second most wins in the KSAC in the last two seasons. The Bobcats had 33 wins over that span, second only to Clarion-Limestone’s thirty-eight.

Coaches Quinn and Wrhen passed out the Varsity pins. Players receiving pins were: Sophomores – Gavin Brinkley and Archer Mills; Juniors – Zak Bauer, Jacob Selker, Austin Hummell, Spencer Miller and Cam Craig; Seniors – Ryan Anthony, Reed Anthony, Ceventh Lynch-Skunda, Nick Terwint, Vic Stahlman and Ty Burford.

The program concluded with the senior players presenting gifts to the coaches and Laura Burford thanking all who came out to the gathering.
