Bobcats Start Week With A Win, Down Cranberry 4-1 In Baseball Action (05/10/17)

The Clarion Bobcats hosted the Cranberry Berries on Monday, May 8th,  at County Park, coming away with a 4-1 victory over the visitors from Seneca.  Clarion tallied runs in the first and second innings to jump out to a 2-0 lead.  The Berries put up their only run of the game in the top of the third, cutting into the Clarion lead and making the score 2-1.

The Bobcats countered in the bottom of the third frame with 2 runs of their own, taking a 4-1 lead.  With neither team able to plate a run in the remaining 4 innings, the 4-1 score would hold up as the final.

Freshman Nate Datko had a single and RBI for the Bobcats, with senior Ryan Anthony also adding a single.  Junior Sterling Conner and freshman Josh Craig were each credited with an RBI.  In addition to Clarion’s two hits, 6 Bobcats reached base on walks and 4 on Cranberry errors.  Junior Cameron Craig collected 3 of the Bobcat walks and scored a run. Ryan Anthony, junior Spencer Miller, and freshman Skylar Rhoades also crossed the plate for Clarion.

Senior Reed Anthony got the start for the Bobcats, going the distance in 94 pitches to earn the win.  He surrendered only 2 hits while striking out 5 in his seven innings of work.

Clarion (9-1) hosted the North Clarion Wolves today (Wednesday, May 10th).
