Softball Round-up: Lady Cats Win Four More (05/20/17)

The Clarion Area Lady Cats Softball Team recorded four wins, this past week, to finish the regular season with eight straight wins. The Lady Cats are now 11-8 and will travel to Elk County Catholic, to face the Lady Crusaders in the District 9, Class A Playoffs, at 4:30, on Wednesday (May 24th).

Clarion won both ends of a double-header, against Forest Area on Monday (May 15th), at Marienville. They followed that by successive home wins, over Clarion-Limestone on Wednesday (May 17th) and Brockway on Thursday (May 18th).

Clarion 19 – Forest Area 3 (4 innings), Clarion 15 – Forest Area 0 (4 innings)

The Lady Cats had an impressive offensive output, outscoring the Lady Fires 34-3 in the double-header.

In the first game, Clarion scored five runs in the first, six in the second and eight in the fourth. Forest Area scored one in the third and two in the fourth.

Alexis Constantino had two singles, two doubles, three RBIs and scored twice. Kaitlyn Constantino had three his, with two runs batted in and a run scored. Sydney Kiser had a pair of hits, driving in two runs and scored twice.

Cora Zerfoss had a single and scored a pair of runs. Carly Best singled, scored twice and drove in couple of runners. Lyndsey Kemmer singled, doubled, drove in a pair and scored twice. Sadie Rudesyle singled, drove in a run and scored twice. Maya Thornton had a hit, drove in two runs and scored once.

MacKenzie DiTullio singled and scored a run. Tori Vega singled and drove in four runs. Leticia Negri and Hailey Sintobin each scored a run.

The Lady Cats scored two runs in the first, three each in the second and third and seven in the fourth inning, in the nightcap.

Alexis Constantino tripled, doubled and singled, driving in three runs. She also scored once. Rudesyle tripled and drove in a pair of runners, while scoring once. Zerfoss drove in four runs on three hits and scored twice.

Kiser doubled, drove in a run and scored once. Best had two hits and scored twice. Thornton tripled and drove in a pair. Liz Saver had two hits and scored twice and Kaitlyn Constantino singled and scored a pair of runs. DiTullio singled and scored a run. Lindsey Kemmer scored a run.

Clarion 11 – Clarion-Limestone 0 (5 innings)

Clarion scored four runs in each of the first two innings and three runs in the fourth of this five inning win.

Rudesyle threw a one-hitter against the Lady Lions and helped her cause with a single and by scoring a run.

Kaitlyn Constantino had a big day offensively, with a triple and two singles. She drove in three runs and scored twice. Also having a bi game at the plate was Kiser, who tripled and doubled, driving in a pair and scoring a run.

Best had two singles, an RBI and scored two runs.Alexis Constantino contributed two hits, with two RBIs and two runs scored. DiTullio doubled and scored a run and Thornton singled and scored twice.

This was Senior Day, with the Lady Cats honoring Cora Zerfoss and Leticia Negri who are in their last year for the team.

Clarion 17 – Brockway 2 (3 innings)

The Lady Cats scored eight runs in each of the first two innings and another in the third. The Lady Rovers scored their two runs in the third.

Thornton and Alexis Constantino each homered in the game. Thornton also singled. She drove in three runs and scored twice, while Constantino also singled, drove in a pair of runners and scored three times.

Alexis Constantino tripled, singled drove in three runs and scored twice. Rudesyle tripled, scored twice and had an RBI. Sydney Kiser had a pair of hits, with two RBIs, while scoring twice. DiTullio doubled, singled, drove in two runs and scored twice.

Zerfoss had three hits and scored two runs. Best singled and scored a run. Vega singled and scored.
