The Clarion Bobcats advanced to the District 9/10 championship game and secured a berth in the PIAA Class A playoffs with their shutout victory over the Jamestown Muskies on Tuesday.

Clarion jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the home half of the first and then never looked back, scoring 3 runs in the second, 2 in the third, and 1 in the sixth.  Meanwhile, a combination of stingy Bobcat pitching and some stellar defense, particularly in the outfield, kept the visitors from District 10 off the board as Clarion secured the 7-0 win.

Junior Sterling Conner’s (1-2) double was the only extra base hit of the game for Clarion.  Singling for Clarion were seniors Ryan Anthony (1-3) and Dominic Fleming (1-1), as well as juniors Cam Craig (1-2) and Spencer Miller (1-3).  Miller and Anthony both had 2 RBI.  Cam Craig and freshmen Josh Craig and Skylar Rhoades were credited with one apiece.

Anthony pitched the first six innings of the game, surrendering only 2 hits and striking out 8.  Conner relieved in the seventh, finishing the game in 11 pitches
