Several Bobcats,’ Lady Cats’ Named To 217 TCS/C-E Track And Field All-Star Team (06/19/17)

The Tri-County Sunday and Courier Express newspapers, from DuBois, announced their 2017 Track and Field All-Star Team, in the June 18th edition of the TCS and a number of Clarion Area Athletes were named.

BOBCATS

Brendan Zerfoss was named to the squad in two individual events, the 100 and 200. He was the District-Nine Class-AA champion in both events. Brendan joined Ty Burford, Marshall Powers and Archer Mills in the 4×100 relay that also was named. All of these boys competed at states.

LADY CATS

Forest Madison Mills was named to the All-Star Team in the 800. Lexi Lauer was named in the high jump and Laken Lewis made the squad in the pole vault. Forest and Lexi competed at states.

TOP AWARD WINNERS

The Boys Track Athlete of the Year was Brookville’s Ryan Thrush who won the PIAA Class-AAState Championship in the 400.Ryan was named in the 400, 800 and as a member of the Raiders’ 4×100 and 4×800 relays. Ryan traveled with the Clarion Club Team to meets during the indoor season.

The Boys Field Athlete of the Year was St. Marys’ Tom Bojalad. He was named in the shot and discus, finishing first in District Nine Class-AA and second in the State in Class-AA in both events.

The Girls Track Athlete of the Year was Brookville’s Brook Hummell, who was named in the 100 and 200. She was the District Nine Class-AA champion in both events. She was also named to the team as a member of the Lady Raiders’ 4×100 and 4×400 relay teams.

The Girls Field Athlete of the Year was Skylar Sherry from Johnsonburg. She was named in the javelin, where she was District Nine Class-AA champion and a state medalist.
