Junior Varsity Gridders Win, Junior High Falls (09/16/17)

The homestanding Clarion Area Junior Varsity Football Team downed Brookville, on Monday (September 11th) 35-6.

Brookville took an early 6-0 first quarter lead, when Ian Thrush caught a scoring pass from Tyler Ohls.

The Bobcats came back, with a running touchdown by Sam Minich. Archer Mills kick was good to give the Cats a 7-6 lead.

There was no scoring in the second quarter, and the Cats took the 7-6 lead in to the half.

Clarion extended their lead to 28-6 with three third quarter touchdowns. Cutter Boggess scored on a 4 yard run around end, at 6:35. Minich scored again, at 4;26, around the left side, just inside the pylon, then Hunter Craddock returned an interception 40 yards down the right sidelline, for the score at 3:51. Mills was successful on all three kicks.

The Cats set the final at 35-6, when Minich hauled in a pass from Mills and ran down the right sideline for 15 yards and a score, with 4:55 left in the game. The PAT was good.

 

JUNIOR HIGH

The Junior High Team also hosted Brookville, with the game played on Thursday (September 14th), with the Raiders coming out on top 26-12.

Brookville held a 12-0 lead after one quarter, on two Creed Knepp scoring runs. The first touchdown came on a reverse, for 20 yards, at 5:15, with the second coming on a one yard run.

The Raiders moved their lead to 20-0, in the second quarter, on a 1 yard run by Cameron Moore, with 26 seconds left in the half and a pass from quarterback Tate Lindermuth to tight end Hunter Smith for the conversion.

 

Breckin Rex got Clarion on the board, with 1:07 left in the third, cutting the lead to 20-6. But Lindermuth ran for a 60 yard score , with seventeen seconds left in the quarter, giving the Raiders a 26-6 lead.

Clarion quarterback Calvin German ran 2 yards for a touchdown, with 4:47 left in the game to set the final.
