Volleyball Splits Matches Last Week (10/12/17)

Clarion Falls To Northern Cambria 3-2

In a match of Class A powers the #8 ranked Clarion Bobcats fell to the #4 ranked Northern Cambria Lady Colts 3-2 on Wednesday, October 4th.  Northern Cambria won the first set 25-21, following which the Bobcats took the next two 25-22 and 26-24.  The Colts rallied to win the match, however, by taking the final two sets, 25-21 and 15-10.

Sophomore Maddie Schill served for 12 points and collected 8 kills.  Outside hitter Maya Thornton, a Bobcat senior, collected 2 service points while slamming down a team leading 15 kills.  Junior Lexi Lauer had 11 points on serve (2 aces) and 4 kills.  Senior libero Alexis Constantino served for 12 points (1 ace) and freshman setter Brenna Campbell had 10 on serve (2 aces) while posting a team high 37 assists.

On defense Thornton led the team with 31 digs, with Lauer (21), Constantino (20), and Campbell also posting double digit totals. Schill, Constantino, and junior Hailey Sintobin each had 2 blocks.

JV Volleyball Falls To Northern Cambria

The JV volleyball team fell to visiting Northern Cambria 25-17, 25-21, and 15-7.

Sophomore outside hitter Kyara Girvan had 4 service points (1 ace) and 5 kills for the Bobcats.  Fellow sophomore Kaitlyn Constantino served for 2 points and led the team with 6 kills.  Ava Kiser, a Bobcat freshman, contributed 7 points on serve and 7 assists, both team highs.

Freshman Gabby Klein had 5 points from the service line (1 ace) and 1 kill.  Abbie Slagle, a sophomore, served for three points.  Bobcat junior Kaylie Lutz was the only player to have tallies in the service points (2, 1 ace), kills (1), and assists (6) columns.

Constantino led the way on defense with 7 digs.  Lutz, Kiser, Girvan, and Slagle each had 2, while Gabby Klein and freshman Bella Klein came up with 1 apiece.

Bobcats Sweep Damsels

Last Thursday, October 5th, Clarion swept Union (25-3, 25-19, 25-22) in Rimersburg, running the team’s record to 17-10 for the 2017 season.

Senior Maya Thornton served for 5 points (1 ace) and recorded a team leading 13 kills.  Fellow senior Alexis Constantino had 14 service points (3 aces) and 1 kill.

Sophomore middle hitter Maddie Schill posted 10 service points (1) and 4 kills.  Kaitlyn Constantino, a sophomore, served for 4 points (1 ace) and had 1 kill.  Freshman Brenna Campbell’s 7 points all came from the service line and she amassed a team high 26 assists.  The Clarion offense was rounded out by juniors Lexi Lauer (3 service points, 3 kills) and Hailey Sintobin (3 kills).

The Bobcat defense was led by Lauer with 13 digs.  Senior Sydney Kiser and Campbell both had 7, followed by Alexis Constantino with 6 and senior Maya Miller and Thornton with 3 apiece.
