Bobcat Volleyball Team Claims Third In District 9 (11/05/2017)

(By CSZ Sportswriter Kenn Staub) The Clarion volleyball team came from behind to beat Coudersport in the District 9 consolation game played at St. Marys High School this past Saturday (October 4). The Falcons took a tightly contested first set 27-25, after which the Bobcats won the final three 25-16, 225-18, 27-25. With the win, Clarion secured a spot in the PIAA playoffs.

Maya Thornton goes up for a spike

Brenna Campbell paced the Bobcats at the service line with 12 points (2 aces) and set up her teammates with 45 assists. Maya Thornton had 10 points on serve (3 aces) and led the team with 15 kills. Lexi Lauer served for 9 and had 9 kills. Sydney Kiser had 12 kills, Hailey Sintobin 8, and Maddie Schill 6.

On defense Alexis Constantino scooped up 28 digs to the lead the team. She was followed by Thornton with 21, Kiser with 14, and Campbell with 13. Lauer had 2 solo blocks and assisted with 3 others. Schill also posted a block and assisted with another.

The Bobcats will travel to Norwin High School on Tuesday (October 7) to take on WPIAL champion Bishop Canevin in the first round of the PIAA playoffs. Game time is scheduled for 7:30.
