Junior High Girls Basketball Team Opens Season Strong (11/06/17)

(By Coach Chrissy Kriebel)

The Junior High Girls Basketball team played their first game against Clarion-Limestone, on October 24th. The A team closed off a nail biter with a score of 27-18. Jordan Best had 14 points,  Payton Simko with 7 points and Aryana Girvan, Korrin Burns, and Noel Anthony had 2 points each. I am very excited for an aggressive season this year.

The B team took an early lead against C-L and never looked back with a score of 28-4. Coach Toth was very thrilled to see the determination,  speed and mutual teamwork his team displayed. Alexis Sobalvarro had 8 points, McKayla Kerle, Allison Acey, Chesney Boggess and Anna Gribik had 4 points each while Brianna Pierce and Grace Ochs had 2 points.

On Wednesday, November 1st, the Jr High Girls basketball teams took on North Clarion. The A team played an extremely tough defensive game and had a nice win against the Lady Wolves with a score of 48-12. Jordan Best had an unstoppable game with a total of 21 points while Aryana Girvan finished with 8 points. Payton Simko had a strong game with 6 points and both Korrin Burns and Rebekah Ketner had 4 points. Evelyn Lerch closed with 3 points respectively. I enjoyed watching the passion and team positivity come together Wednesday night.

The B team had a tough loss of 17-16 to the Lady Wolves after the final buzzer with a foul shot. Even with a lot of unfortunate factors on Wednesday night’s game,  Coach Toth was happy to see the sportsmanship and passion his athletes portrayed. Even though the girls didn’t play to their best ability, Brianna Forrest finished the game with 8 points,  Alexis Sobalvarro with 6, and Chesney Boggess with 2.

Coach Toth and I are excited to work even harder at practices and continue with a successful season.

(Thanks to Coach Kriebel for this article. Good start to the season, Lady Cats!!!!)
