Basketball Round-up: Lady Cats, Bobcats Down Forest Area (01/05/18)

The Clarion Area Basketball Teams faced Forest Area on Wednesday (January 3rd), with both squads coming away with victories.

The homestanding Lady Cats downed the Lady Fires 60-42, while the visiting Bobcats came out on top 88-57 at Tionesta.

Lady Cats Game

Kate Constantino had a big game, with a triple (and nearly quadruple) double. Kate scored 26 points, pulled down 12 rebounds, had 12 steals and dished out eight assists. K. K. Girvan scored 14 points, Wendy Beveridge scored 9 points, with Ali Troese chipping in with 6 points and pulling down nine rebounds.

The Lady Cats led 17-9 after one, 26-17 at the half, but Forest Area came back to close the gap to 38-34 after three. Clarion won going away with a 22-8 edge in the final stanza.

Jasmine Ginnery scored 13 and Emily Everett scored 10 for the Lady Fires.

Bobcats Game

Cam Craig had three buckets from long range and scored a game high twenty-seven points to lead the Bobcats to victory. Archer Mills and Josh Craig each scored eleven points. Spencer Miller added seven points

The Fires had a narrow one point, 19-18 lead after one. But the Cats had a huge second period, outscoring Forest Area 32-10 to take a 50-28 lead into halftime. A 22-14 Bobcat edge in the third gave the Cats a 72-42 lead heading to the final period, where they had a 16-14 edge to set the final.

Seth Berlin had 18 points and eleven rebounds to lead the Fires.Dillon DiCorpo chipped in with twelve points.

Friday’s (January 5th) games were postponed.

(The Bobcats will host Moniteau on Tuesday, January 9th and the Lady Cats will visit Moniteau on Wednesday, January 10th.)
