Lady Cats Basketball Round-up (02/03/18)

Cranberry at Clarion

The Clarion Area Lady Cats Basketball Team came through in a big way, on Friday (February 2nd), with a 56-45 victory over visiting Cranberry.

Wendy Beveridge led the Cats with twenty-two points. She also had 9 rebounds and four blocks.

Kate Constantino had 19 points, while Sadie Rudesyle scored 9 points and pulled down seven rebounds.

Clarion 10-8 after one, 23-16 at the half and 40-29 after three.

Malliah Schrek had 24 points for the Berries.

The Lady Cats had two games earlier in the week.

Keystone at Clarion

The Lady Cats hosted Keystone in the opener of a Girls/Boys doubleheader, on Monday (January 29th), falling to the Lady Panthers 62-34. Constantino led Clarion with fourteen points. Rudesyle scored 7 points and Ali Troese had six.

Keystone led 9-5 after one and 20-19 at the half and then put the game out of reach with a 25-3 edge in the third, to take a 45-22 lead into the last stanza.

Keystone’s Taylor Geer led all scorers with twenty-seven points. Tessa Weaver contributed twelve for the Panthers.

The Panther JVs won their game 43-19.

There was an American Cancer Society, Hoops for Hope ceremony held between the Boys and Girls Varsity contests.

Clarion at Brookville

The Lady Cats dropped a 53-36 decision to homestanding Brookville, on Wednesday (January 31st).

Constantino led Clarion with thirteen points. K. K. Girvan bucketed 11 points and Beveridge had 4 points, 6 blocks and seven rebounds.

The Lady Raiders led 14-11 after one, 30-15 at the half and 41-21 after three.

The Lady Cats will host North Clarion on Wednesday (February 7th) and travel to East Forest to face the Forest Area Flames on Friday (February 9th).
