Bobcat Grapplers Turn In Dominating Performance Against Tide (01/14/15)

The Clarion Area Varsity Wrestlers jumped out to a 19-0 lead at Curwensville, on Tuesday (January 13th) and never looked back, as they registered a 43-18 victory. The Cats collected four falls and never trailed in the match, where they won 10 out of 12 contested bouts.

The match started at 195, where Zach Sintobin pinned his opponent in 2:22. There was no match at 220. Zach Huet recorded a fall in 41 seconds, in the 285lb bout, increasing the Bobcat lead to 12-0. A 10-0 Major Decision by Alex Struble, at 106, moved Clarion’s lead over the Golden Tide to 16-0.

Riley McMaster followed with a 4-2 win, at 113, to give the Cats a 19-0 advantage.

The Tide’s first points came by way of forfeit at 120, making the score Clarion 19 – Curwenville 6.

Clarion increased their lead to 28-6, with wins in the next two bouts. Caleb Bailey got six points, at 126, delivering a fall at 1:33 and Adrian Weber picked up picked up three team points, with a 9-3 win at 132.

A Curwensville pin, at 138, closed the gap to 28-12.

But the Cats got decisions, in the next two matches, to move their lead to 34-12 as Colton Rapp defeated his opponent 3-2, at 145 and Prince Brooks won 5-1, at 152. The Tide’s last points came by way of fall, at 160, making the score Clarion 34 – Curwensville 18.

A 14-8 decision, by Jacob Troutman, at 170 followed by a pin at 42 seconds, by Alexander Burkhart, at 182, set the final at 43-18, Bobcats.

The Bobcats will participate in the Mercer VFW Tournament, this Friday (January 16th) and Saturday (January 17th).
