Early Lead Gives Clarion Bobcats 16-4 Softball Victory Over Forest Area Fires (04/09/15)

The Clarion Bobcats softball team jumped out to an early lead on the Forest Fires and captured a 16-4 victory in five innings. on Monday.

Thirteen runs in the first 3 innings allowed Clarion to put the game away early.

An RBI single by Alexis Constantino, an RBI triple by Johnna Rapp, and an error and a passed ball during the first inning and an error in the second inning fueled Clarion’s offense early. Keanna Over, Constantino, Rapp,Cora Zerfoss, Sadie Rudesyle and Sydney Kiser all scored runs in the first. Rudesyle also scored the Bobcats only tally in the second.

Zerfoss was hot from the plate for the Bobcats. Zerfoss went 2-3, drove in one and scored three runs. She singled in the third inning and tripled in the fourth inning. Scoring runs for the Clarion offense in the third were Liz Saver, Lexa McGill, Over, Constantino, Rapp and Zerfoss.

Erica Peterson, Over and Zerfoss score the final three runs for the offense in the fourth inning.

The Fires scored an unearned run in the second, two in the third and one in the fourth to make the final score 16-4.

Meanwhile Rudesyle got it done in the circle on the way to the win. She allowed four runs over five innings. She struck out nine hitters, walked five and gave up two hits.

The Lady Cats piled on six more runs in the top of the third. A wild pitch scored Liz Saver to start the scoring in the inning. That was followed up by Rapp’s single, scoring McGill and Keanna Over.

Over scored three runs for Clarion while Zerfoss also scored three and had a single and a triple while driving in a run. Rapp also singled and tripled while driving in a pair of runs. Aliya Reed walked three times.

The Lady Cats improved to 3-0 on the season and 2-0 in the KSAC north.
