DE Sports Stays Undefeated In League Play, With Four More Wins (07/05/15)

DE Sports (Clarion) remained undefeated in league play with four more recent wins.

On Friday(June 26th), DE Sports downed homestanding Grove City 5-2, as Derek Lauer threw a complete game, three hitter. He had a no-hitter going into the sixth inning and gave up no earned runs in the contest.

Clarion scored 2 in the second, 1 in the fifth and two in the sixth. Grove City’s run came in the bottom of the sixth.

Brendan Miller had a double and an RBI. Adrian Weber, Spencer Miller and Ryan Anthony each had singles and an RBI apiece. Reed Anthony and Thomas Plummer each had singles.

Clarion visited Pleasantville on Monday (June 29th) and came away with an 11-0, 5 inning win. Clarion scored 2 in the first, 4 in the second, 4 in the third and another run in the fifth.

Brendan Miller had a 3-run homer in the second; he also scored another run. Weber had 3 hits with two RBIs and scored two runs. Max Lane had two hits including a double, with two RBIs. Reed Anthony, Ryan Anthony and Jake Zacherl each scored two runs.

Lane pitched three one-hit innings and Weber threw two innings, striking out five 0f the seven batters he faced.

Then on Wednesday (July 1st), DE Sports swept a double-header from Oil City.

The first game went into extra innings, with Clarion coming out on top 2-1. Oil City scored their run in the fifth. Clarion tied it in the seventh and won he game on Thomas Plummer’s RBI single, in the tenth. Reed Anthony and Brendan Miller each had hits and scored runs. Weber, Sam Leadbetter and Derek Lauer each had hits.

Brendan Miller had 7 strikeouts over six innings and Lane had struck out 6, giving up only one hit, in four innings of work.

The nightcap saw DE Sports come away with an 11-0 win, as Leadbetter, Lauer and Ryan Anthony combined for a no-hitter.

Clarion scored 1 in the first, 6 in the second, 1 in the fourth, 1 in the fifth and2 in the sixth. Lane had 3 hits, an RBI and a run scored. Leadbetter had 2 hits, an RBI and a run scored. Brendan Miller drove in four runs. He had a pair of singles and scored a run. Weber, Zacherl and Lauer each had a single, an RBI and scored a run. Ryan Anthony and Plummer each had a hit and scored a run.
