Track And Field: Bobcats, Lady Cats Fare Well At Kane Invite (04/17/16)

The Clarion Area Track and Field Teams competed in the Kane Invitational on Saturday (April 4th), with a number of the local athletes turning in quality performances.

The Bobcat boys got two firsts, with Brendan Zerfoss capturing the 200, in 24.07 and Josh Kriebel winning the 100 high hurdles in 15.64. Zerfoss also finished third in the 100, registering a time of11.55, while Kriebel was fourth in the long jump at 19-0.5.

The 4×100 relay also captured first place. The team of Patterson, Kriebel, Archer Mills and Zerfoss turned in a winning time of 46.01.

Adam Bettwy ran a 4:56.77 to finish fifth in the 1600 and recorded a 2:14.61 in the 800 for ninth place. Patterson earned a fifth in the 300 hurdles, with a time of 46.77.

Also competing for the Bobcats were: Kyle Bettwy, Austin Hummel and Jimmy Smathers.

For the Lady Cats: Gabby Weaver finished third in the 100 hurdles, with a time of 17.37 and tenth in the 300 hurdles with a 53.01. Lexi Lauer had a fourth in the high jump, finishing at a height of 4-10.

Wendy Beveridge took fifth in the long jump, with a distance of 15-0 and took seventh in the triple jump, with a district meet qualifying distance of 31-7.5. Also capturing a fifth was Forest Mills with a time of 2:38.49 in the 800. Mills also took eighth in the 400 with a 1:07.4.

Also competing for the Lady Cats were: Meredith Burkhart, Gloria Kroh and Clair Saylor.

The Bobcats will host Keystone and North Clarion on Wednesday (April 20th), while the Lady Cats will face the same  schools, at Keystone, on the same day.
