Saturday, March 19th was Clarion MMA’s In-House Jiu-Jitsu Tournament. There were a total of 12 divisions, ten of which were youth divisions. This gave everybody the opportunity to demonstrate their abilities and to test themselves against a fully resisting opponent, in a safe and controlled setting.

With Children ranging in age from 4 years to 12 years, there were plenty of good matches to learn and grow from. The athletes were supported by a crowd of friends and family off the mat. On the mat they were supported by our two referees, Clarion MMA instructors, Ian Carroll and Mike LeFay.

The event was in-house and only included participants that have been training together and growing as a team. This really showed as teammates cheered each other on and consoled one another whenever a match was lost.

For some of the competitors this was a low pressure way to prepare for larger events coming up. The next stop for some of these athletes is the North American Grappling Association tournament in Pittsburgh on April 2nd.

The event was sponsored by Tied Together BJJ. This family-owned business provides CBD products as well other products that relate to the sport of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Their support made it possible to offer stuffed lions to all of the first-place finishers, in addition to their gold medals.
