Riversharks Swim Team hosts Quad Meet; ‘Sharks And Others Turn in Some Fine Performances

Clarion County YMCA Riversharks swim team hosted a quad meet at PennWest Clarion’s Tippin Natatorium against the Brookville, Dubois, and Ridgway YMCA teams on Saturday, January 21st.

Leading the way for Clarion was Ashlyn Clark, in the Girls 11-12 age group, who won all four of her events with district qualifying times in the 50-yard Freestyle, 50 and 100-yard Backstroke, and 100-yard Individual Medley.

In the Girls 13 -14 age group, Callie Snodgrass won three individual events with district qualifying times in the 100 and 200 – yard Backstroke and 500-yard Freestyle. Maggie Snodgrass won two individual events, the 400-yard Individual Medley and 200-yard Breaststroke, while securing 2nd place in the 100-yard breaststroke and earning district qualifying times in each.

The Snodgrass duo were joined by Lila Gourley and Megan Fenske to win the 200-yard Freestyle Relay with another district qualifying time. Joining these girls at the Western PA District Swim Meet, which will be held at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio on  Friday, Saturday and Sunday, March 10th, 11th and 12th, will be Aubree Conticelli, in the Girls 9-10 age group, who won her 50-yard Backstroke and secured 2nd place in the 50-yard Freestyle, with a district qualifying time.

In the 8 and Under boys category, Dylan Space won two individual events, the 50-yard Freestyle and 100-yard Individual Medley.

Conner Chesterfield won the 25-yard Freestyle; and Klayton Bell and Trevor Shifflet teamed up with Space and Chesterfield to win the 100-yard Freestyle Relay.

In the girls group, Addyson Space won two individual events, the 50-yard Freestyle and 100-yard Individual Medley; and Emelia Larson won the 25-yard Freestyle.

Rounding out Clarion’s wins were Kathryn Fenske in the 200-yard Backstroke for the 15 and Over girls; and Samantha Lewis won the 200-yard Breaststroke for the 11-12 girls.

For the other teams, many swimmers had notable performances, including the following swimmers who swam district qualifying times in multiple individual events, as follows:

Ridgway – Madeline Lanzel, Madelyn Thorwart, Sarah Krise, Jonathan Schaut, Jeff Schaut, Aubrey Schaut, Reese Assalone, Jason McAnany, and Austin Garbic.

Brookville – Patrick Young, Kevin Young, and Casey Riley.

DuBois – Tyler Curry and Bailey Franci
