Bobcat 5K Trail Run

The 2023 Bobcat 5K Trail Run is set for Wednesday, July 26th at the course at Clarion County Park in Shippenville. Start time is 7:00 p.m. with a 1/2 Mile Kid’s Race to follow at 7:40 p.m.

Individuals of all ages, and Varsity, Junior High and Elementary teams are encouraged to enter.

All proceeds benefit the Clarion Area Cross Country teams.

It’s time for Bobcat 5K 2023 Edition!

Teams, Elementary, Junior High & Varsity, you made the race so special last year and we are looking to expand this division! Open and community runners, you are at the heart of the Bobcat 5K can’t wait to see you all!

With the Success of the Team Challenge last year, We are hoping even more teams will join us this year, for a preseason invite, what a great, fun way to get things started!

We have something for everyone, we have a ½ mile race for those 12 & under! With ribbons for all finishers. Whether you want walk or run the trails and grass of the beautiful views of Clarion County Park, we have an age group for 12 & under, 13-15, 16-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60 & above.

Thank you to Local Runner and Senior running experience specialist at Brooks Shaun Burke, we will be raffling off 2 $150 Brooks Running gifts certificates at the race. If you have running needs, especially expert foot type & shoe fitting, make sure to see your local expert!

2022 Bobcat 5K male 13-15 winners – 1st Braden Henry, 2nd Jonas Wilshire, 3rd Gabriel Fair

Continuing last year’s tradition, the race is Wednesday evening 7:00 p.m. start, with the kids’ race at 7:40 p.m. With the Bobcat 5K Trail Run being held on a weeknight you can preserve the weekend for families, whether it is camping, soccer, or whatever you choose!

St. Joseph’s Liberty 5K

Another local race on tap in the coming weeks is the St. Joseph’s Liberty 5K, in Lucinda, which will be held on Saturday, July 1st, beginning at the Lucinda Train Station – 1040 Lander Drive, Lucinda and will run along the scenic Rail 66 Trail in Lucinda – http://www.rail66.org. Proceeds will benefit St. Joseph School in Lucinda.

The race will start at 8:00 a.m. (rain or shine), with race day registration at 7:00 a.m.

Awards will be given to the Top overall male and female finisher and top three male and female finishers in each age group:  14 and under, 15 – 19, 20 – 29, 30 – 39, 40 – 49, 50 – 59, 60+ 

The Entry Fees are $20 Preregistered (Completed online or postmarked by June 17th to guarantee a T-shirt (No Show, No Shirt) and $25 Race day (T-shirts are on a first come, first serve basis- limited supply and sizes).

Some race particulars: Registration is at the Lucinda Train Station (I-80 Exit 60, Rte 66 N for 10 miles to Lucinda, left on Maple Drive about ¼ mile)  Parking is available in field near the Lucinda Train Station or at St. Joseph’s Church lot. If you are parking at St. Joseph’s it is a short walk to Train Station. Electronic Timing will be provided by Miles of Smiles Timing Services.  (Results will be posted on smileymiles.com.)  Facebook – @StJoesLiberty5K

Roaring Lion 5K

And to close out the big summer runs benefitting the three local schools, the Roaring Lion 5K will be held at the Clarion-Limestone Sports Complex (football field and trail) on Saturday, August 12th.

The event, which will benefit the Clarion-Limestone Cross Country team will begin with a Kids 1 Mile Fun Run at at 8:30 a.m. The cost to enter is $15. The Top three male and female runners will receive medals.

Then, at 9:00 a.m., the Roaring Lion 5K Run will commence. The entry fee is $25. The Top three overall male and female runners will receive medals, as well as the first place finishers, male and female, in tach age group (14 & under, 15-19, 20-29, 40-49 and 50+.

Then, it’s the Tiny Tots Dash at 10:00 a.m., with all the participants being celebrated. The cost to enter this race is $10.
