Tipoff Tournament Roundup: Bobcat Girls Second At Ridgway, Boys Third At Keystone

The Clarion Area Girls and Boys Basketball Teams took part in Tipoff Tournaments on Friday, December 1st and Saturday, December 2nd.

The Bobcat Girls participated in the inaugural Ridgway Tipoff Tournament, while the Boys were in the Keystone Tipoff Tournament.

Girls – Ridgway Tournament

The Bobcats opened with a 39-21 victory over Smethport, on Friday. Taylor Alston led Clarion with 21 points and eleven rebounds. Gia Babington scored 9 points and Sophie Babington followed with eight.

Elizabeth Hungiville scored fifteen to lead Smethport.

The win propelled Clarion to Saturday’s championship contest against Ridgway, who beat Keystone in the other opener 56-27.

Clarion dropped the contest 44-22.

Sophie Babington scored six points for the Bobcats.

Jenna Kasmierski scored twenty-one points for Ridgway.

Boys – Keystone Tournament

The Bobcats dropped a close 69-66 decision to DuBois, in Friday’s opener.

Devon Lauer led Clarion with sixteen points. Bryce Brinkley followed with 14, while Gabe Simko and Dawson Smail each recorded eight points.

Max Bennet led DuBois with a game-high twenty-one.

With the loss, the Bobcats moved to Saturday’s consolation game against host Keystone, which fell to Oil City 61-25 in their opening round matchup.

Clarion downed Keystone 63-46 in that game.

Devon Lauer again led the Bobcats, scoring fifteen. Gabe Simko added 12, Kameron Merrill had 9 and Dawson Smail seven.

Drew Keth had twelve points for Keystone.

DuBois downed Oil City 44-27 in the championship.
