The Central Clarion Wildcat youth wrestlers had an outstanding day at the Lenny Ferraro Memorial Tournament on Sunday (January 21st).

Coach Bryan Kiskadden shares this summary of the team’s exploits:

The 2024 Lenny Ferraro Tournament at Brookville High School was held on Sunday, January 21, 2024.

Central Clarion had 17 youth wrestlers compete on the day. We were among roughly 20 different schools that were represented.

We had many wrestlers compete that are first year wrestlers and was also their first ever tournament. In total, we suited up 17 wrestlers across 5 different age and class divisions, all the while placing an incredible 15 out of 17 wrestlers in the top 4 in their brackets, coming away with 3 champions.

In the Novice Division, we had 14 wrestlers compete on the day. In 6U Novice, Shiloh Samulewski placed 2nd in the 44 lb. class, Lexan Burns placed 4th in the 44lb. class, Caden Cyphert placed 4th in the 48 lb. class, and Ryker Seitz placed 2nd in the 55 lb. class, and Mathew Cyphert competed in the 70 lb. class. In 8U Novice, Hunter Neiderhiser won 1st place in the 55 lb. class, Nico Neiderhiser won 1st place in the 60 lb. class.

Nolan Burns placed 2nd in the 60 lb. class, Coleson Amsler competed in the 65 lb. class, Colton Wasser placed 2nd in the 76lb. class, and Cooper Whitmore placed 3rd in the 76 lb. class. In 10U Novice, Everett Neely won 1st place in the 50 lb. class.

Zeke Fesco placed 4th in the 75 lb. class, and Mason O’Brien placed 4th in the 120 lb. class.

In the Open Division, we had 3 wrestlers compete on the day. In 8U Open, we were doubled up at the 55 lb. class with Karsen Wolff placing 2nd and Beckett Kiskadden placing 3rd. In 10U Open, Lincoln Maxwell placed 4th in the 75 lb. class.

Coach Kiskaden giving the team a pep talk before the wrestling began.

Though team scores are not formally recognized or awarded, the Wildcats placed highly in 4 of the 5 divisions we competed in, garnishing a 3rd place team finish in 6U Novice, 2nd place team finish in 8U Novice, 4th place finish in 10U Novice, and tied for 2nd place in 8U Open.

We could have easily brought well over 20 wrestlers to this tournament, but due to unforeseen reasons some of our wrestlers were unable to make the tournament. We have close to 50 wrestlers practicing now between all youth levels and is continuing to grow. It is great to see how these young men work so hard and are finding success.

I wanted to add that I could not be more proud of the way these young men had competed, supported their teammates, along with showing so much respect on and off of the mat. I am so thankful to be a small part of this wonderful group.

This day was an incredible representation of the Central Clarion Wildcats in every possible way!

(Great Job, Wildcats!!!! Thanks Coach Kiskadden for this fine summary and to Central Clarion Wildcat Wrestling for the photos!!)
