Bobcats Open 2014-15 Basketball Season With A Win (12/11/14)

The Clarion Bobcats opened the season by defeating the homestanding Forest Area Fires 53-41.

Three Cats scored in double figures. Junior Taylor Smith led the Cats with 16 points followed by two freshmen, Cameron Craig, with 14 and Christian Smith with eleven.

Ceventh Lynch-Skunda added six points. Derek Lauer, Zach Hill and Ty Burford each had two points. Thomas Plummer led the Cats on the boards with 8 rebounds and Taylor Smith had five boards. Plummer and Taylor Smith had four steals apiece.

Coach Todd Smith was pleased with his team’s performance, saying, “It was a good start with the win. It shows us what we need to work on.”

The Bobcat JVs also won, downing the Fires 63-17. Ryan Anthony led the way with nineteen points.

The Bobcats will travel to Brockway on Monday (December 15) and then will play the first game of a Boys / Girls doubleheader, at home on Wednesday (December 19) against Keystone.
