Clarion JH Wrestlers Invade Port Allegany (01/13/14)

Even though the Clarion Jr. High team was shorthanded, they finished 5th in the team race (at the Port Allegany Tournament, on Saturday. There were teams from Punxsutawney, Johnsonburg, Kane, Wellsboro (NY), Cameron County, Oswayo Valley, Port Alleghany, Sharon, Brockway, St Mary’s and Marion Center.

Clarion could only fill 12 weight classes, but everyone contributed by winning at least 1 match on the day.

Marion Center took 1st place while Kane took 2nd, Port Alleghany 3rd place, and St. Marys 4th.

Login Dehner wrestled well all day with a 4-1 record on the day at 75lbs., to take 2nd place, with Riley Slagle giving a great effort, also in the 75 lb. bracket, to get a 4th place finish.

Josh Kriebel and Tyler Finefrock dominated in their respective weight classes, all day long, with first place finishes for Clarion. Kevin Bradley is gaining confidence with every match and ended up with second place in his weight bracket.

Seth Nellis and Karlin Hiles, only in their 1st year, wrestled better than expected, with Seth taking 3rd place and Karlin coming home with 4th place!

Frankie Weber wrestled tough all day and took 3rd place in his respective bracket. Dominic Fleming and Greg Duncan came away with 4th in their brackets and Carter Shipley took third. Although Sterling Conner and Ryley McMaster didn’t place in the top four, they wrestled some extremely tough competition and both took 5th on the day.

It was a great day of wrestling for the Junior High boys who are back on the mats on Wednesday at Kittanning for their next dual meet.
