Five Lady Cats Named All-State!!!! (12/13/12)

When a team wins a State Championship, it can be expected that there will be an All-State player or two on the team. Well, let’s make that five. That’s right, the 2012 Pennsylvania Class A State Champion Lady Bobcat Volleyball Team placed five girls on the Pennsylvania Volleyball Coaches Association (PVCA) All-State Team!

Making the squad for the Lady Cats were Morgan Bailey, a 5’9” Senior, Outside Hitter; Ellie Burns, a 5’6” Senior Libero; Kate Fillman, a 5’10” Senior, Outside Hitter; Gretchen Vandermeer, a 5’11” Senior Setter; and Kyla Miles, a 5’11” Junior Middle Hitter.

Morgan was First Team All-KSAC. She was also a First Team All-D9 Tournament All-Star at Outside hitter. Morgan had 226 points, 30 aces, 277 kills, 205 digs and an 85.0 percent serve in percentage.

This is Ellie’s second straight year on the All-State Squad. This year she was the KSAC MVP, as well as, the All-D9 Tournament MVP and First Team Libero. Ellie had 376 points, 67 aces, 18 kills, 56 assists and 680 digs and an 86.3 serve in percentage.

This is the second straight year for Kate on the All-State Team. She was also a member of last year’s All-State Tournament Team. She was a First Team All – KSAC selection this year. Kate had 366 points, 44 aces, 292 kills, 280 digs and a 90.3 serve in percentage.

Kyla was a 2012 First Team All-KSAC selection. She was also a First Team Middle Hitter on the All-D9 Tournament Team. Kyla had 85 points, 6 aces, 222 kills, 49 digs and an 86.6 serve in percentage.

Gretchen was a First Team All-KSAC selection this year. She was a First Team All-D9 Tournament Team selection at Outside Hitter. Gretchen had 475 points, 74 aces, an astounding 1106 assists, 85 kills, 231 digs and an 89.4 serve in percentage.

Also on the All-State Squad, from the KSAC is Meredith Snyder, a Setter and Right Hitter from the District 9 3rd place team A-C Valley, the District 9, 3rd place team. District 9 Runner-up Port Alleghany’s Rachael Taylor made All-State at Middle Hitter.

Congratulations to Morgan, Ellie, Kate, Kyla and Gretchen on a great season and on this great honor!!
