Kyla Miles Gets 1000th Career Point, In Lady Cats Win (01/21/13)
Clarion High School’s Kyla Miles went over 1000 career points in the Lady Cats’ 56-49 home victory over the Cranberry, Lady Berries, in a key KSAC North game, on Monday, with the Cats moving to 3-0 (10-4) and the Berries dropping to 3-2 (8-6).
Kyla did it in fine fashion too, as she scored a game high thirty points, including a 3-pointer.
The game saw the Berries jump out to a 13-8 lead after one period. But with a 12-7, Bobcat scoring advantage in the second, the halftime score was knotted at 20-all.
Clarion doubled up the Berries 18-9 in the third, to hold a 38-29 lead heading into the last stanza. Cranberry outscored Clarion 20-18, in quarter number four, to set the 56-49 final.
Two other Lady Cats scored in double figures, with Grace Kroh getting 12 points and Laken Ganoe scoring eleven, including a 3-pointer.
Nicki Glenn chipped in 2 points and Anna Reed added one.
Clarion’s JVs also won their game. The Lady Cats held a 10-5 lead, after one and a 23-9 lead at the half. A 7-2, Cranberry advantage, in the third period, made the score Clarion 25 – Cranberry 16, heading into the last stanza. Cranberry scored 11 points, in the fourth period, to Clarion’s 6 points, to set the final at 31-27, Bobcats.
Maddie Weaver had a big game, with 10 points, 2 rebounds, 2 steals and a block. Julie Kenneson had 8 points and five rebounds. Kelly Beveridge also had a real solid game, with 6 points, on two 3-pointers, 3 rebounds, a steal and a block. Anna Reed had 4 points and five steals, Nicki Glenn had 2 points, 3 rebounds and a block and Gloria Kroh scored 1 point, to go along with 2 rebounds, 2 steals and a block.
Keanna Over had 2 rebounds and 2 steals and Lauren Wiser had 2 steals. Sophie Wolf and Jenna Beichner each had a rebound.
The Lady Cats will host West Forest on Wednesday.
