LL Baseball: 9-10 All-Stars Win District 25 Championship, Move On To Sectionals (07/16/13)

By virtue of two victories over East Butler, last week, the Clarion Little League Baseball 9-10 All-Stars won the District 25 Championship.

The first game of the series saw Clarion post an easy 14-0 (4 inning) road win, on Monday, as Cal German and Hayden Callen joined forces for a no hitter.  Cal and Hayden combined for  10 strikeouts.

Clarion scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning and four more in the second, to take a commanding 7-0 lead. After a scoreless third inning, Clarion scored seven runs in the fourth inning to seal the 14-0 victory.

Cole Slaugenhoup had a triple and two singles for the winners. Cal had three hits and Haden C. had two singles. Chase Kriebel added a double and Ethan Burford and Hayden Siegel each contributed a single.

Then on Thursday, Clarion hosted East Butler, in what proved to be the Championship clinching game. This one proved to be more of a test for the Clarion All-Stars, as they eked  out a 1-0 win.

Cal and Hayden C. combined for a four hitter this time. While Clarion’s offense got the only run they needed in the fourth inning. All tolled, the mound duo and Clarion’s defense went 10 straight innings, without allowing a run.

Hayden C. and Chase Kriebel each had a double and Bryson Huwar and Cal each had a single for Clarion.

For East Butler, C. Schaffner led the way with two hits, including a triple. B. Collins had a double and E. Fetterer had a single.
