Alex Burkhart And Zach Sintobin Compete At Northwest Regional Wrestling Championships (03/11/14)

Clarion Area sophomores, Alex Burkhart and Zach Sintobin competed at the Northwest Regional Wrestling Championships, held on Friday, February 28 and Saturday, March 1, at Sharon High School.

Coach Rob Sintobin provided the following summaries and outlooks for the two Bobcat grapplers:

The two regional qualifiers were Alex Burkhart (195) and Zach Sintobin (220).  Alexander won his first match 12-4 over Isiah Stearns of Maplewood. He lost his second match to Garrett Reinhold of Ft. LeBoeuf 9-2. He lost again in the consolations 5-2 to Chris Mueller of Sharpsville.

Alexander had a fantastic sophomore year.

He finished the season with 20 wins and was number 2 on the team points leader board. He’s very dedicated to the off-season lifting and wrestling opportunities. The coaches are very excited about Alexander’s potential for success next year.

Zach Sintobin finished with 3 wins and 2 loses in the tournament. His first win was a pin over Randall Peabody of Greenville in 58 seconds. His next match resulted in a loss to senior Connor Overman of Cochranton in 1-3 decision.

Zach came back in the consolations with a win over Tony Pusateri of Seneca in 4-0 decision and again with a victory over Cal Haines of Redbank with a 3-1 decision. Zach lost in his final match in the Consy semi-finals to Andrew Phelps of North East by fall.

Zach had an exceptional sophomore year with 25 wins.

He continues to grow into the 220 lbs class and is looking to improve significantly as he moves into his junior year.
