Bobcat Track Teams Split With Cranberry In Season Opener (03/30/14)

The Clarion Area High School Track Teams opened their 2014 season by hosting Cranberry on Thursday. The Girls won 101-45, while the Boys dropped an 84-63 decision.

Forest Mills was a triple winner for the Lady Cats, capturing the 800 (2:43.9) and 1600 (6:04.00) as well as being a member of the victorious 3200 relay along with Janelle Toy, Madison Thomas and Allison Harriger (11:41.0).

The Lady Cats had five double winners. Jen Ochs won the shot put (28-3) and javelin (104-4), Laken Ganoe had a victory in the triple jump and joined fellow double winners, Kyla Miles, Grace Kroh and Madison Weaver in the victorious 400 relay (55.3). Miles also won the 100 (13.9), Kroh won the 200 (31.0) and Weaver captured the long jump (15-4.5).

Julie Kenneson won the high jump (4-8) and Chelsea Mason won the 400 (1:16.1).

Ian Corbett was a triple winner, for the Boys, capturing firsts in the 100 (11.8), 200 (24.8) and long jump (20-6.5). Liam Raehsler was a double winner prevailing in the 1600 (5:03.2) and 3200 (10:56.5).

Zach Hill won the high jump (5-10), Addison Hockins won the discus (94-0) and Antonio Troese won the 800 (2:17.7).

Several Bobcats met District Meet qualifying standards.

For the Girls, Ganoe met the standard for two events, the long and triple jumps. Ochs met the meet standard in the javelin. Weaver’s long jump qualified.

For the Boys, Corbett qualified for Districts in two events, the 100 and the long jump. Hill qualified in the high jump and Raehsler made the standard for the 3200.

The Girls will host Moniteau and Karns City on Wednesday and The Boys will travel to Moniteau to face the Warriors and Gremlins on the same day.
