Lady Cat Volleyball Team Competes In Saint Francis Tournament (09/14/14)

The Clarion Area Volleyball Team competed in the Saint Francis Tournament on Saturday. And in spite of having three players out with injury, Katie Eustice, Sophie Wolf and Olivia Burns, the Lady Cats still finished second in pool play and made the quarterfinals of the 29 team tournament.

In Pool Play: Clarion defeated Johnstown 2-0 (25-15, 25-23) and Richland 2-0 (25-19, 25-14). They tied Blairsville 1-1 (25-21, 16-25) and Hollidaysburg 1-1 (25-14 and 25-27). Then they beat Penn Cambria 25-11 in Gold Bracket Play, before losing to Northern Cambria 23-25, in the Quarter-Finals.

Individually for Clarion: Jenn Ochs scored 31 points, three of them aces and had 28 kills and twenty-one digs. Anna McNamara had 16 points, on of them an ace, 14 kills and twelve digs. Keanna Over had 11 points, including 3 aces, 19 digs and eight kills. Johnna Rapp had 17 points, 12 of them  aces, 4 kills and two digs. Gloria Kroh had 16 points, two of them aces, 10 kills and a pair of digs.

Maya Thornton scored 6 points, 6 kills and three digs. Anna Reed had 4 aces and twenty-seven digs. Brook Allen had 4 aces and thirteen points, while Morgan Dehner had 2 points, 1 of them an ace, 3 digs and a kill.

The Lady Cats will host West Forest on Tuesday(September 16), will travel to Cranberry on Thursday (September, 18 and will host their own tournament, on Saturday (September 20). Coach Campbell hopes to have Eustice and Wolf back this week.
