CRVS Strikers U-10 Green Team Downs Kinzua 9-2 (10/23/14)

Clarion Strikers U10 Green Defeat Kinzu 9-2 on Sunday (October 19).
It was a sunny, but chilly fall afternoon in Clarion Pa., when the Clarion River Valley Strikers U10 Green team eagerly entered the field to play their 7th game of the fall soccer season against Kinzua Darling.

The match started with Lexi Coull (#85) and Bailee Verdill (#61) playing forward, while Dawson Smail (#6) filled the mid-field. Derick Smail (#5) and Kaleb Wolbert (#62) marched on defense to assist goalie Tyler Bingham (#1).

Although the Strikers started off strong and kept Kinzua backed up into their own zone, no shots found the net.

Devon Lauer (#7) came on as a forward with Curt Womeldorf (#15) playing center. Nikolai Todorov (#13) and Kendall Dunn (#52) joined in on defense. After some strong tackling and teamwork, it wasn’t long until Devon scored the first goal on the game with solid side kick, 1-0.

The Strikers were on fire. The defense was holding the line and passing up to the forwards when Bailee scored two goals, back to back, for the Stirkers to lead 3-0.

Kinzua had some great shots on goal, but Tyler made some strong saves to keep them out of the net.

Lexi entered the field as forward with Dawson on mid-field while Derrick and Kaleb headed on defense.

The Strikers were fielding with great teamwork and determination. The Strikers front line soon barreled through and Lexi soon had a goal, while Devon followed through with his second goal. The Strikers now led the game 5-0 as the whistle blew for half time break.

The second half started with Curt and Nikolai playing forward, Bailee in mid-field, Derick and Kendall on defense with Tyler in the net.

Kinzua was rallied up and ready to roll. They were pressuring through into the Strikers zone when Tyler made a strong save. However, Kinzua had another run and battled through where their shot on goal found the net and a point on the scoreboard, 5-1.

With solid teamwork and strong foot skills, Bailee returned the ball to the offensive zone to score another goal, 6-1.

Devon and Lexi jumped on as forwards, Dawson was in the mid-field and Kaleb joined the defense. Kinzua was not backing down and the game was overflowing with excitement.

Kinzu found and opening and squeezed in pass the defense. With a solid shot from the sideline, Kinzua had scored their second goal of the game, 6-2.

The clock was ticking when Devon and Bailee entered the field to play forward, Curt worked mid-field and Nikolai and Derrick hustled on defense. The Strikers teamwork was unstoppable, and wonderful to watch.

With some great bumps up from defense Bailee, Curt and Devon scored 3 more goals to blow up the scoreboard, 9-2.

After 7 games of the season, the CRVS U10 Green team is undefeated. Along with Coach Corey and Coach Kelly, the Strikers are anxious to play their last game of the season this coming Sunday in Erie against Millcreek. Go Strikers!
