(Chris Schonbachler, Clarion Area Lady Cats Coach)
Congratulations to Clarion’s Maci Thornton for being selected to the 2014 Upper Allegheny Valley Soccer League All-Star Squad. This is a well-deserved accomplishment given the outstanding effort and performances Maci put forth this soccer season.

By season’s end she had collected 30 goals and 17 assists. On more than one occasion, Maci put her skills and determination on display with dominant offensive runs down the field. This is the second consecutive year Maci has been named to the UAVSL All-Star Team.

On behalf of the entire coaching staff, I would like to once again congratulate Maci, and wish her the best of luck in the upcoming Basketball season and beyond.

Maci is a special player, in my opinion one of the best in the UAVSL League. Her 30 goals and 17 assists led the team, earning her the team’s “Golden Boot” award for the 2014 season. Maci was also won the CAHS 2014 “Offensive MVP” award for her performance this season.

Aside from her outstanding game play, she led by example in practice showing the strong work ethic that helped her become such an dominant offensive force. Her ability to elevate the play of the younger girls on the squad this season will still be paying dividends next year, when Maci has moved on to the challenges of college.

Congratulations to Maci, the Clarion Limestone boys, and all the players earning a spot on this year’s All Conference Team.

(Nicole Selker, Clarion-Limestone Lions Coach) The Lions had a great season this year. They came out with a lot to prove and did just that.

Two gentleman in particular led that charge. Those gentlemen are Jonah Landfried and Max Lane. These two were selected to the 2014 Upper Allegheny Valley Soccer League All-Star Squad. These two define what it means to be a true leader. Both were team captains and leaders both on and off the field.

Jonah was an unstoppable force in net. He faced over 138 shots this season and allowed only 41 goals. He left many teams in awe of his skill in net and received numerous compliments from other coaches. He will truly be missed next year.

Max Lane was an absolute force on offense. He dominated as a striker and showed a great level of skill and drive. He had 17 goals for the team and on multiple occasions had hat tricks. He also assisted on multiple goals. He was the driving force of the offense and led by example.

This is Max’s second season in a row to be selected as a UAVSL All-Star Team pick. His skill and leadership will be missed next year.

On behalf of the team and coaching staff, I would like to congratulate these young men on their accomplishment and wish them the best of luck in their future endeavors!

(Thanks to Coaches Schonbachler and Selker for their comments and Congratulations Maci, Max and Jonah!!!!)
