Junior High Girls Basketball Teams Fall To Cranberry (12/20/14)

The Clarion Junior High Basketball Teams played Cranberry on Monday (December 15). Coach Dave Constantino shares this article:

“A” Game – Cranberry 27  Clarion 21

Clarion let a 9 point lead disappear over a 3 minute stretch of the third quarter and could not recover Monday afternoon in Cranberry. Clarion led 12-6 at the half and stretched the lead to 17-8 shortly into the third stanza, but turnovers hurt the Lady Cats as they turned the ball over on four consecutive possessions which all led to Lady Berry baskets and tied the game up.  Cranberry outscored Clarion 11-4 in the fourth quarter, half of those points coming from the foul line.

Wendy Beveridge once again shouldered the load scoring 19 of the 21 points.  Kaylie Lutz added a basket for the other two.

“B” Game – Cranberry 17  Clarion 8

Clarion’s 4-game winning streak came to an end in the first game of the day. Clarion trailed 13-6 at the half and could only muster two points in the second half. Clarion did play solid defense and held Cranberry to only 4 points. Kaitlyn Constantino led Clarion in scoring with 4 points, followed by Kyara Girvan and Cassie Acey who both scored a basket.
