Maci Thornton Leads Lady Cats Win In First Annual Kane Holiday Tournament (12/30/14)

Following up on her 27 point performance, in Friday’s Opening Round, 52-45 victory over Eisenhower, Maci Thornton led the Clarion Area Lady Cats with 25 points, as they claimed the Championship of the First Annual Kane Holiday Basketball Tournament, with a 50-43 win over next door neighbor North Clarion.

Clarion jumped out to a 10-4 lead after one quarter and held a 20-12 lead at halftime. A 14-10 Lady Cats advantage in the third, moved Clarion’s lead to 34-22 heading into the final stanza. The She Wolves had a 21-16 advantage, in the fourth, to set the 52-45 final.

Thornton had 2 three-pointers, in the contest and was 9 of 10 from the free-throw line.

Anna Reed added 8 points and Julie Kenneson contributed seven points.

Maddie Weaver and Alexis Constantino each had 3 points and Nicki Glenn and Maya Thornton each had two points.

Abbie Schmader and Tori Obenrader each had double-doubles, in leading the She Wolves. Schmader scored 15 points and gathered fifteen rebounds. Obenrader scored 14 points and pulled down 11 rebounds.

Maci Thornton was named the Tournament MVP. Also making the All-Tournament Team was Reed. Schmader and Obenrader also made the All-Tournament team.

The Lady Cat JVs also won their tournament. Alexis Constantino was named JV Tournament MVP. Maya Thornton was named to the JV All-Tournament Team.
