Basketball: JV Boys Fall To Moniteau, Bounce Back Against Keystone (01/18/15)

The Bobcat Boys JV Basketball Team played two road games on successive nights, traveling to Moniteau on Friday (December 16th) and then to Keystone on Saturday (December 17th).

On Friday, the Cats suffered their first loss of the season, falling to the Warriors 46-39. They rebounded on Saturday with a 45-38 victory over the Panthers.

Friday’s contest was tied 13-all after one. Moniteau had a 13-8 scoring advantage in the second, to make the score 26-21, Warriors at halftime. A 12-8 Warrior scoring edge, in the third period, moved Moniteau’s lead to 38-29 heading to the final stanza, where a 9-7 Bobcat edge set the final score.

Ryan Anthony led the Cats with 12 points, followed by Craig Kerr, with 8 points, who was seeing his first action, coming back from a dislocated knee cap.

Ty Burford and Reed Anthony each scored six points. Christian Smith had 4 points and Tom Hearst had three.

Bobcat Coach B. J. Wrhen said, “We didn’t make our shots tonight, and the couldn’t miss. They have a really nice team and they play well together. You just wish we could get another crack at them, but we only play them once since they are in the South.”

Ty Burford led the Bobcat JVs, on Saturday, scoring 16 points against the Panthers.

Clarion led 16-5, after one and 25-13 at the half. Keystone had a 12-9 scoring edge in the third period, making the score Clarion 34 – Keystone 25 going to the fourth quarter. The Panthers again had the scoring advantage, in the fourth with a 13-11 edge, to set the final at 45-38.

Reed Anthony also hit double figures for the Cats, with eleven. Christian Smith had 7, Ryan Anthony scored 6, Craig Kerr had 5 and Tom Hearst score one point.

Coach Wrhen said, “Ty Burford played his best game of the season. He played a nice game offensively and also was able to come up with several steals and rebounds on defense.

“Keystone has improved greatly since the first time we played. They played much tougher on defense.”

The Bobcats will travel to Karns City, tomorrow (Monday, January 19th).
