Junior High Basketball: B-Team Downs North Clarion (02/12/15)

(By Coach Jason Craig)

The Clarion Jr. High boys B-team was back in action as they traveled to North Clarion to take on the Wolves.
The Bobcats got off to a fast start, winning the 1st quarter 10 – 0. They continued with some great defensive pressure and went in to the half with a 20 – 2 lead. The Wolves outscored Clarion 8 – 2 in the third, but the Bobcats still lead 22 – 11 heading into the final quarter. North Clarion won the fourth quarter 8 -7, but Clarion won the game 29 – 19.

Nick Frederick paced the Bobcats with 8 points while Nate Datko followed with 6. Isaac Kim and Josh Craig each netted 4 points and Greg Kalinowski followed with 3. Clay McElravy and Tyler Schmader closed out the scoring with 2 points each.

Matson Higgins had 5 points for the Wolves in limited playing time due to an ankle injury. He went 5 – 6 from the foul line. Schmader also had five points including a 3-pointer. Another Schmader followed with 4 points while Bauer had 3 and Gatesman had 2.

Matson is a good player who can handle the ball and score. If he would have been playing at 100%, this would have been a much closer game.

The boys are playing pretty good basketball so far this season and have improved their record to 5 – 0.

(Thanks to Coach Craig for the article. Keep up the good work, Bobcats!!!!)
