Clarion Area Track And Field Athletes Fare Well At Oil Country Invitational (05/03/15)

A number of Clarion Area Track and Field athletes took part in the Oil Country Invitational on Saturday (May 2nd), at Oil City High School’s “Oil Field” with three locals taking medals and two others just missing out.

Liam Raehsler, the lone Bobcat boy to compete, came away with a first place finish in the 32oo. Raehsler’s winning time was 9:42.76.

Jenn Ochs led the Lady Cats with a second place finish in the javelin, throwing 122-10. The other place winner for Clarion Area was Julie Kenneson who finished fifth in the high jump, with a leap of 4-10.

Medals were given to the top six place finishers in each event. Forest Mills and Gabby Weaver, fell just short of medals, with seventh place finishes. Mills seventh place came in the 400, where she ran a 1:06.36 and Weaver’s seventh came in the 300 hurdles, as she finished with a time of 51.84.

Mills placed ninth in the 800, with a time of 2:38.95 and Weaver finished twelfth in the 100 hurdles, where she ran an 18:66. Weaver also competed in the long jump.

Gloria Kroh competed in the triple jump and 100 hurdles. Here triple jump distance of 29-5 was good enough for eleventh place.

Also competing for the Lady Cats were Meredith Burkhart in the javelin, Devon Quinn in the 100 and 200 andZoe Shaffer in the 200 and 400.
