Bobcat Football Team Does Well In Second Scrimmage (08/30/15)

The Clarion Area Football Team hosted West Branch, in a scrimmage at Memorial Stadium, last Friday (August 28th).

This was a good final tune-up before the Bobcats open the season, this coming Friday (September 4th) at A-C Valley.

The Cats scored six touchdowns, three by the offense and two by the defense, while holding the Warriors out of the end zone.

Defensive back, Spencer Miller started the Bobcat scoring, as he stepped between the quarterback and receiver on a screen pass. He took the ball in stride and ran it in from fifty-five yards out.

The Cats next score came from running back Luke Nellis, who took a handoff and ran into the interior of the line and followed some nice blocking, running down the right side for thirty-seven yards to paydirt.

Then it was Josh Kriebel’s turn.  He came across from the left side of the backfield, took a handoff and side stepped four defenders in the backfield and proceeded to follow a caravan of Bobcat blockers down the right sideline. He put on some nifty moves to avoid a couple of would be tacklers and ended up with a 68 yard touchdown.

The Cats’ defense got back into the scoring as Nose Guard Dominic Fleming forced a fumble. Defensive end Colt Stimmel picked the ball up at the Warriors’ twelve yard line and ran the ball in untouched.

Then quarterback Brendan Miller hit a wide open tight end Josh Vanek, with a ten yard scoring strike over the middle.

Stimmel added an offensive touchdown, taking a handoff through the middle of the line for a 55 yard touchdown.

Bobcat placekicker, Cam Craig was successful on all five of his PATs.

Brendan Miller and Keeven Weaver both came up with interceptions for the Bobcats.
