The Clarion Area Bobcat Cross Country team traveled to Schenley Park in Pittsburgh on Saturday (September 12th) for the 13th annual Red, White, and Blue Classic 5K race. Junior Crowe Theim led the Bobcat boys by finishing in 18th place out of 115 Class A runners with a time of 18:34. Freshman Katie Craig led the varsity girls’ team by finishing 30th out of 99 runners, logging a finishing time of 23:03.

Jimmy Smathers, Nick Schill, Noah Schill, Jacob Smith, and Victor Stahlman rounded-out the remainder of the varsity boys’ team while Gabbie Flemming, Chelsea Mason, Liz Saver, Lili Frakes, and Shamecka Dittman gave strong performances over the soggy and hilly course for the girls.

Giovanni Giamboni led the JV boys’ team followed by Daniel Ketner who crossed the line in a hard fought sprint with Rafael Ayala from Canon McMillen. Of the 15 boys’ teams and 12 girls’ teams participating, only Clarion Area and Elk County Catholic represented District IX. All race results are available on www.penntrack.com.
