Jon Kemmer Named Texas League Player Of The Month For August, Also Selected As Postseason All-Star (09/02/15)

Clarion Area High School and C.A.L.L. alumni Jon Kemmer, outfielder for the Houston Astros Double-A affiliate Corpus Christi Hooks, has been  named the Texas League Player of the Month for August.  The announcement was made yesterday (Tuesday, September 1st by Texas League president Tom Kayser.

Jon was on a major tear. He hit a whopping .376. He scored 22 runs. Among his hits were thirteen doubles, three triples and four home runs. Jon batted in nineteen runs in twenty seven games, in August. Jon’s OPS was 1.145. He had 13 walks and 13 strikeouts, in 101 plate appearances.

Jon has garnered another BIG honor. He has been named a Texas League Postseason All-Star.

For the season, Jon sports a .327 batting average and .574 slugging percentage, the Texas League in both categories. He is second in the league in home runs (18) and on-base average (.416).

Jon has been very consistent this season, shown by his totals since May rolled around. He is among the leaders in all of Double-A Baseball in OPS (1.015, 1st) and home runs (18, 2nd). Jon also is near the top of Double-A in extra-base hits (48, 3rd) and total bases (197, 3rd). Jon’s Teammate Colin Moran, who was named Texas League Player of the Month for July.
