Bobcat JV Football Team Chalks Up Two Wins, In Last Two Weeks (10/15/15)

The Clarion Area Junior Varsity Football Team downed homestanding Keystone, 10-6, on Monday, October 5th and followed that with a 38-6 victory, at home, over Moniteau, on Monday, October 12th.

KEYSTONE GAME

The Bobcats and Panthers were scoreless after one quarter. But in the second quarter, Brendan Zerfoss picked off a Keystone pass and returned it 80 yards for a touchdown. Zak Bauer ran up the middle and found an opening to the left side to score the two-point conversion, giving the Cats an 8-0 lead.

Keystone scored on a 30 yard pass play, in the third. The two-point attempt failed and the Bobcat lead was cut to 8-6.

A safety by Clarion’s defense, in the fourth quarter set the final at 10-6.

MONITEAU GAME

Bobcat quarterback, Traeson Douglas scored on a 2 yard, keeper around the right side, with 1:30 left in the first quarter. Korbin Schill took a toss around the left side for the conversion and the Cats led 8-0.

Clarion upped their lead to 22-0, in the second quarter, with two more scores. At 7:51, cornerback, Ryley McMaster returned an interception to the right, along Clarion’s sideline for 30 yards and a touchdown. Quarterback Kyle Katis rolled right, looking to pass, but ran in the conversion, to give Clarion a 16-0 lead.

Then slot receiver, Keevin Weaver had a 40 yard touchdown run, to the right, at 5:59. The conversion failed. Cameron Hearst had an interception to end the half.

The Bobcats put up twelve more points in the third quarter. At 6:02 Douglas had a 4 yard touchdown run, after rolling right to pass. He then hit wide receiver, Cameron Hearst for the conversion, moving the lead to 30-0. Then linebacker, Seth Nellis recovered a fumble at the Moniteau 11 yard line, following a mishandled punt attempt, at 3:35. Linebacker, Zack Bauer had a sack in the endzone, with twenty-two seconds left in the stanza, to give the Bobcats a 32-0 lead.

Clarion increased the lead to 38-0, with 8:18 left in the game, when corrnerback, Ryley McMaster recovered a fumble and went down the left side for a touchdown. The conversion failed.

Moniteau had a short run for a touchdown at 1:52. The PAT attempt was blocked and the final was set at 38-6.

The Bobcat JVs now have a 3-1 record.
