Coming off a difficult tie in Warren against a well matched Kinzua team, this team had many different scoring opportunities with 10 shots finding the back of the net.

The scoring began in the first half with forward Joyce Kim scoring twice, once with a pass from midfielder Parker Boyden and the other unassisted. Center midfielder Korrin Burns handily beat the Grove City defense scoring with a blast from the outside right corner. As always, the defense was wound tight with Bailey Snowberger and Anna Gribik on the outside and Shawna Pack anchoring the middle. This defense was so stingy they allowed no shots on goalie Evelyn Lerch in the first half. Two U10 girls Gia Babington and Taylor Alston played a double header and assisted the U12 girls by playing on the offensive and defensive parts of the field. The half ended with Clarion leading 3-0.

The second half started with forward Evelyn Lerch having fresh legs from playing goalie in the first half scoring with a crossing pass from Reagan Pack. Lerch scored her second goal minutes later with an assist from Burns. Reagan Pack shot five times on goal in the game and found the back of the net on her sixth shot as she scored unassisted with a classic blistering shot from the right. Grove City’s goaltender was stopping excellent shots from Liv Weckerly and Parker Boyden and played well all game. Lerch scored her hat trick goal at mid period and her fourth goal less than a minute later. Right midfielder Riley Burford shot from outside the box for an unassisted goal. With the team clearly winning the contest, defender Anna Gribik was brought up to play right midfielder. After putting on the after burners beating Grove City’s defense Gribik took the shot for her first goal of the season. Second half goalie Shawna Pack had two stops to preserve the shutout.

The Clarion U12 Girls will attempt to win next Sunday (October 11th), at 4PM at home against Shanango Valley again as they won the home opener 2-1 against Shanango Valley.
