Cross Country Teams Have Great Outing (10/16/15)

The Union Knights, Clarion Limestone Lions, and Karns City Gremlins traveled to the Clarion County Park on Tuesday, October 13th for a dual Cross Country Meet with the Clarion Bobcats.

In varsity boys competition, Clarion beat Union by a score of 21-37 and Karns City 24-31. Karns City also outran Union, winning in team scoring 22-35. Adam Bettwy (C) led the field tape-to-tape on a shortened course followed by top finishers Andrew Forrest (CL), Crowe Thiem (C), Conrad Snyder (KC), Marshall Powers (C), Grant Curdo (KC), Vinnie Gazzia (U), Eli Cowoski (KC), Kristiann Vogle (U), Tye Sapien (U), and Ian McElroy (KC).

In varsity girls competition, Clarion beat Karns City by a score of 22-35. Clarion-Limestone also outscored Karns City with a tally of 20-36. Hannah Rittenhouse (CL) outpaced all girls and was followed by other top finishers including; Katie Craig (C), Joni Zacherl (CL), Kaleigh Kirby (CL), Ashlyn Hildebrand (KC), Chelsea Mason (C), Gabriella Fleming (C), Kaila Hildebrand (KC), Liz Saver (C), Kylie Garvey (CL), and Lainey Stockdill (U).

In junior high team scoring the Clarion boys topped Karns City with a score of 18-38. The pace was set by Clarion’s Nathaniel Lerch who led for the entire race. Other top finishers included; Austin Coull (CL), Nate Datko (C), Donnie Cunningham (C), Eli Evans (KC), Alex Cussins (C), Gavin Marsh (U), Gunnar Yough (KC), Beau Verdill (C), and Gavin Schmill (KC).

Karns City was the only school to field a complete junior high girls team so they won with a score of 15. Individually, Clarion’s Emma Spitz beat-out Union’s Drew Yoder in a close finish, crossing the line 2 seconds before Yoder. They were followed by Rozina McCanna (KC), Jenna Miller (C), Alexis Fennell (KC), Lizzie DeRose (KC), Marilyn Lychnsky (C), Morgan Kahle (C), Morgan Cumberland (U), Karleigh Reinsel (U), Kira Marsh (U), Willow Mortimer (KC), and Jasmine Humphreys (KC).
