Strikers Under-14 Team Wins At Edinboro (10/07/15)

(By Mindi Verdill)

The Under-14 Striker Team travelled to Edinboro University on Sunday to meet up with MSA.

The Strikers looked great from the first whistle of the game with a lot of great passing and good communication happening on the field.

There was a fair share of cross passing happening, with a couple of missed shots, until Ryker Bingham made a great pass in front of the MSA goal where Beau Verdill was able to get the ball in the net to start the scoring. Strikers 1 – MSA 0.

The incredible defending of Lauren Troutman, Lucas Baker and Wyatt Stimmel kept the ball well
out of the territory of goalie Chance Buzard, who only had to make a minimal number of saves.

Two Under-12 players were brought into the game to cover for a couple of injured Under-14 players. Bailee Verdill and Tyler Bingham were able to jump into the game and add to the great lineups and passing frenzy that was happening on the field.

The second goal for the Strikers was the reverse action of the first score. This time Verdill crossed the ball to Bingham who was able to get it in the net to make the score 2-0.

Owen Kerle, Koby Buzard and Austin Coull were able to keep the pressure on MSA, but were unable to dial their shots in for any points. Ali Clark and Owen Condon also saw some time upfront and kept the pressure on MSA. It was on a cross pass from Coull to Verdill that went in, right before the half, for a score of 3-0.

The Strikers came out strong in the second half, with Bailee Verdill and Tyler Bingham upfront trying to get a goal before traveling south for their own Under-12 game, but were unable to get any in past the MSA goalie.

MSA was able to work one in past the Striker defense to make the score 3-1. But it was on a cross from Owen Kerle to Beau Verdill who, with some fancy behind the back kick got one in to make the score 4-1, for the final score of the game.

The U-14 Team will meet up with Kinzua, at home, this Sunday (October 11th), at 2:45PM, at the Clarion County
Park.
